Psychotherapy

Counselling

Therapy helps us understand how we become “stuck” or “lost” on the journey of life. By bringing awareness to unconscious patterns, we reduce their control over our lives. This process creates space for new ways of being and breaks the cycle of old habits. If you feel ready to explore these patterns, you are welcome to book a session here to begin your journey.

Understanding the Path to Change

Treatment works by bringing awareness to the hidden patterns that unconsciously run our lives. As we bring these thoughts, feelings, and motives to the surface, they lose their control over us. Consequently, you are much less likely to get caught up in old habits that no longer serve you.

It is easy to lose track or feel driven by irrational fears, anxiety, and depression. Without a clear path to change, we often feel like victims of our own psychology. These painful patterns are rarely a conscious choice. Instead, they develop over time as unconscious coping mechanisms.

Most of these defenses formed during childhood to help us navigate difficult situations. While they were necessary then, these same defenses often work against us in adulthood. Many people avoid therapy because they fear the process will be too difficult. However, bringing these blocks into the light is the first step toward reclaiming your freedom and emotional balance.

Although this process can be painful, it is the way through to breaking down redundant patterns of functioning that are keeping us locked in unhealthy ways of relating to others, to ourselves and the world.

Psychotherapy is a kind of re-learning or de-conditioning process whereby all the disconnected parts are brought back together as one unified being. It happens through deep personal insight. There is no ‘quick fix’, through developing trust in the process and the therapist, which take time to develop, we discover and incorporate into our constant, every-day consciousness that which is being masked, distracted from, or indirectly “acted out” in symptoms. The goal is a general increase in contentment, power, freedom, and happiness. It is sometimes called “self-actualization” and the key to it is awareness.
